About Rich
Having been a keen gardener for many years, I left my office job to pursue my dream career in horticulture. After qualifying as a Garden Designer I decided to train as a Professional Gardener to increase my knowledge and experience of plants in real gardens. I was fortunate enough to train under Gardener's World presenter and multiple Chelsea Gold Medal winner Adam Frost, and also completed the RHS Level 2 in Practical Horticulture.
Armed with a wealth of hands on experience, a creative eye and a passion for plants, I have been designing gardens and planting schemes ever since. This has diversified into Christmas floristry work, as well as becoming a contributor to Gardener's World Magazine.
What does your garden need?
When designing gardens, there are a number of factors to consider, including beauty, function, budget, sustainability, maintenance and practicality. Here at RHG we ensure a balance between all of these elements to create a garden bespoke to the client that will bring them joy for many years.
In addition to garden design, as a specialist in Planting Design RHG use colour, form and texture to create stand-alone planting schemes for year round interest that give gardens a cohesive, natural look. Beauty is balanced with practicality to ensure that the planting plans created can be realistically maintained by the client.
We now offer a nationwide PIY service - Plant It Yourself! This is ideal for people anywhere in the UK who want to plant up a border but don't know which plants to choose. After an online consultation we send out detailed planting plans and instructions to make creating your new border yourself simple.
As a fully qualified Professional Gardener as well as Designer, RHG are able to offer consultancy services to people in need of advice on their garden. This can be a one off visit to discuss garden needs and improvements, or a regular management programme.
During December the RHG team produce Christmas Wreaths, which are available from March House Farm Shop or for collection in Cossington. We hand make each wreath using as many local sustainable elements as possible to create stunning arrangements for your front door - our order book fills up quickly and numbers are limited, so an early order when the website page opens up at the start of November is advised! We also dress fireplaces, tables, stairways and more for Christmas - these slots are very limited and get booked up quickly, so please get in touch well in advance of the festive season for a quote.
With a broad range of experience across horticulture, the range of consultancy services we are able to offer is ever expanding. Our previous projects having included everything from kitchen garden crop plans to advising on new planting to secure planning permission on a new dwelling. We also have links with a wide range of other consultants in different areas, so it's always worth getting in touch - if RHG can't advise on something, chances are we can recommend someone who can!
